i'm not a huge vw fan, but the new ones look okay.

 

I think they are ugly same with all the new jettas -1

 

I can tell you I'm an avid fan of the last gen 1.8Ts. My friend has one and good lord that thing picks up! If it could avoid the classic VW electrical problems which will probably follow later in it's life, I'd buy it. I don't know a thing about the new ones. They have sweet commercials though.

Tell your friend to calm down and learn how to drive the thing for a bit first.

I used to have a GTI.

 

i like aircooled and classic gti's myself, but the new gti i think will give the new si a run for its money. the only problem is the vw is waaay to heavy for a car it's size

 

Car and Driver just did a comparison between the new Si, and a nearly fully loaded GTi (about 9 grand more on the pricetag). The GTI was the victor, but it was by a narrow margin. Best bang for the buck DEFINITELY goes to the Si

 

i like the new GTis. but i"m not sure if I could ever buy one, because of all the electrical gremlins VWs have experienced in recent years.
