RE: vtec and vtec-e

And yet the Vtec-E engine (the d16y5 anyway) has a bigger cam lobe than the y8. And, ricerburner, the "e" is for efficiency and the 1996-2005 civic Hx also had it. Along with the 2001-2005 civic Ex....

RE: The ol' swap vs keeping sohc D ?'s

I completely agree. Just remember that your y8 rods can only handle about 200whp if you decide to turbo it.

RE: 05 Civic LX Coupe

If you're talking about a 7th gen ex then this is pretty funny. All ex's came with Vtec-E so you were probably always using it. ;)

RE: need help & suggestions=)

You could also stick with the d-series. It's cheap and you can make a very decent amount of power for not very much money. Honestly I recommend checking out d-series.org and using the search function...

RE: need help finding my engine!!

Welcome. First of all, it's written Vtec without the h. Secondly, I assume you mean you have an ex (or maybe an hx?). The 1.6L... doesn't help. I believe the engine code is written of the right side...

RE: Differences In The Civics

Not really. It's more like an lx because it has most of the features of the ex. Also, I don't think that the d16y5 is 3-stage. I though that was only the d15b.

RE: 97 Civic HX Coupe

I have an hx as well. A '98 to be more precise. It's sort of the coupe version of an lx for the ek models (priced between dx and ex, has roughly the same amenities as an lx).

RE: seen a ricer lately?

What was done to the car? Simply blasting music doesn't seem very ricey to me, just obnoxious.

RE: HX help

97hxxx- you really need a reality check. I have a '98 hx, and no, the d16y5 did not have 117hp. It had 115; the 2001+ hx with the d17 came with 117. And no, a stock ek hx is NOT faster than a stock...
