oh shizNat!!1
I was driving home tonight from the gym and two cars ahead of me was a red/maroon civic foor door 7th gen.
I wasn't particularly paying attention to it, but I saw what looked like a cigarette coming from the civic because sparks were bouncing all over the place.
then I saw the civic pull over and and I saw the car in front of me try to swerve out of the way.
I finally got to look over at the pulled over civic and noticed the FRONT DRIVER'S WHEEL WAS MISSING!
the front disc brake was dug into the ground and the driver was just sitting there (like duh).
apparently the civic's front wheel ripped off and the disc brake was causing all the sparks I saw.
learn from your peer's mistakes and TIGHTEN THOSE LUGNUTZ...

Don't forget to torque them down. A couple years back some1 forgot to torque the lug nuts down on a teacher's car at my school. The teacher was driving at 60MPH on the highway and the right wheel falls off and hits a cop (car).
about a month ago on the highway i was driving to school and i was in the fast lane and i forget why but i decided to move to the middle lane right before a we went down a hill and about 2 seconds after i moved into the middle lane there was a entire wheel assembley in the fast lane!! and about a couple seconds down the road there was vw jetta or golf on the sholder and the front drivers side was smashed to hell ..he drove pretty far without that front wheel
I got a related story. Today i took my car to a mechanics shop to have the axle replaced. I was gonna do it myself but i couldn't get the axle nut off (turns out it comes out fine with an impact gun). Anyway i was helping the mechanic out. First off, the guy did it all wrong. But getting to the good stuff, the strut fork has to be taken out to replace the axle so you have enough room to pull the axle out. The mechanic took the bolt out and the rest of the stuff. He puts the axle in and starts reassembling the front end. I noticed that he did not tighten the fork at all, he jus started the nuts by hand. I watched to see if he would tighten them. He gets around to putting the wheel on and he still doesn't tighten the bolt. Not wanting my struts to fall off on the way home, i pointed to the fork (the guy doesn't speak good english) and he tightens it. Its a long story, but i went home angry.
