wow guys I went and got my xbox 360 today ( preminum eddition ). I got it 100 dollars off with a rebate so that is why I got it. I get it power it up thinking oh hell yes going to go online make a gamertag and start playing some games. well I get the red rings of death. if you do not know what these are they are rings that are red around the power button to indicate that there is a problem with the hardware. ok so I do all the trouble shooting I take out the hardrive turn it on and hell what do you know it works!!! but wtf I cant play the system because I do not have a hardrive in! so I call up ( talk to an indian I cant understand ) and they tell me I have to return it to the retailer. I was so happy to hear this news because I really want to go drive 15 miles back to the place where I got it. so I am so happy right now because my xbox dosent work and WOW I just payed $456 for something that dosent work I am about to kill someone. good thing I got a replacement plan.

ps. does anyone know if I return something that has a warranty on it if I will have to re-buy the warranty on the new system. omg I will be so pissed if I do!!!!

Im guessing you haven't mailed in that rebate yet. As for the problems, this site should help: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=19878 . You shouldn't have bought a warranty either, that was a serious waste of money. If faulty systems are still being sent out, that site tells you of how to get a complete new one for free. Microsoft is replacing any broken/faulty units....so in reality thats a warranty right there for free.

^ you shouldn't if you bought it that day, usually they give at least 14 days for an exchange and they should be able to pu the waranty on it. did you get an extended warrenty from the place of purchase? or was it some soft of microsoft warrenty ?

i got a warranty from the place of purchase. and I would rather not have to send it in to microsuck if I dont have to for the idiots there to replace. I got it today so I am going to try and go tomorrow to try and exchange it.

Don't go opening it up next time. Places are bound to say, "well, you opened the case so how do we know YOU didn't cause the damage?" etc.

They are the leading software company b/c they steal every1 else's ****. Watch Pirates of Silicon Valley. And microsoft doesn't make that much hardware, mostly software.

Which is why I'm happy OS-X 10.5 (Leopard) is coming out after Vista. So MS can't steal their ideas. When Leopard comes out that's when I'm finally switching, gonna get a MacBook Pro for college.

If it wasn't for Apple then Micorsoft wouldn't have Windows. and that is that.

And if i understand correctly you don't open the Xbox 360 like a regular Xbox to access the hard drive, it attaches to the Xbox360 externally, so he didn't have to open anything

yep the hardrive is on the top so you do not have to open it for anything. only thing that is inside is the processor and the air fans. only reason I called them microsuck is because I want to, I really like microsoft just they make me mad sometimes. and yea I like paying a few extra bucks to get the warranty because I have needed it a few times for other things.
