Default Online Car Parts

I want to start my own business selling aftermarket car and truck parts and eventually open up a custom shop. Can any1 help me out with some ideas on how to start an online business? I am already very well known in my area with a lot of connections for parts and labor but how can I get an online business started and get known further out of my area?

I'd help you, if you werent potential competition.. haha, jk. But seriously a buddy of mine and I will be starting our own business in December of this year. Its sort of like what you're referring to, but a little more in depth. Once thing you should DEFINITELY do if you want to be successful, is get a Masters in Business.

Oh yeah, and you have to figure out how to get parts cheaper than what manufacturer's sell them for, or else, why would I go to your site when I can just go straight to the manufacturer.. Not only do you have to sell cheaper than them, but you have to figure out a way to make a profit while doing it.

I plan on getting a degree in business later on as it's impossible right now, but I've talked with a few companies about wholesale prices and as soon as I get a wholesale license (I've been told I don't know how true it is) I can get parts at wholesale or a little above depending on quantity. I also asked about drop-shipping so that I don't need much stock, I can just call the warehouse and have parts shipped for me, which is the reason I want to start online-low start up costs.

You will need quite a bit of a bankroll to get started. it takes money to make money. The bigger "buy ins" you do to get your wholesale account started the more of a discount you will get when buying and in the online world today you will need all the discount you can get. People are barely making a profit on some stuff online nowadays.

I realize that there will be some start-up costs, but I'd like to keep those costs at a minimum. I can get parts pretty cheap through some connections already so I'm not too worried about pricing on parts- I just need to figure out a way to get started with a business and get my name out there.
