motor swap

I have a 93 civic ex which has a D16 motor in it at the present time. I would like to do a motor swap to a B16 or a B18. I have also heard about the H22A. Can anyone enlighten me on the pros and cons of these particular motors and which one would be more susceptible to performance and aftermarket parts. Thank you

RE: motor swap

A b series motor is pretty much a straight bolt in with minor wiring that needs to be done . B16 has around 160 hp B18A/B ( ls motor )
has 140hp B18C GSR has around 175hp

The H series requires some cuttingand is a little more difficult and a lot more wiring needs to be done.and the H has 190hpIf you need any more help feel free to wright me at savage@hybrid-garage.org

if u are goin to do a swap, I WOULD NOT suggest H22. For drag or turbo, go B16. for all motor, go B18. gl

RE: motor swap

^>? May I ask why? Stock GSR blocks have seen near 500 whp. Why does everyone hate on the H22? Its a great swap, lots more tq than any other listed motor. Oh but theyre heavy right? Yea I think theyre like 80 lbs heavier than a B series.......so Id go for the H and start hitting the gym. I do like my GSR motor, the only reason I stayed away from the H22 is its size. Im a pretty big dude, and find it hard enough to work on my motor, I dont need it to be any more crammed than it is.

I agree, with you pete, but boosting a stock gsr is asking for problems because of its high compression. Hell, if you were to stick a hotdog behind a tailpip of a gsr going 100MPH it would vaporize it, at the same time the pistons.

Edit.... disregard that, I was thinking of a c5 for some reason.

^I was going to say, stock GSRs love boost. Now I wont be boosting mine for some time now....ive put enought money into the swap itself.

ok guys i'm kinda new to Civic's , just wanna ask why you prefer B18C (GSR) rather than (ITR) ???

RE: motor swap

lower compression, better for boost.

RE: motor swap

H22 is a harder swap, welding and cutting. and cost. as for prefer a GSR motor over an ITR, who ever said go GSR if you can afford an ITR swap, is a F***in idiot. Type-R motor is the best to go with, if u have the motor. GSR is just the cheaper route to go. if u need an step-by-step manuals,f or whichever swap u pic, i'll send them to u.
