Default 18 Inch Wheels with Coilover Question

Hey I want to get these rims for my 2000 Honda civic EX Coupe. http://www.wheelsnext.com/wheels-tir...ck%20Flat.html

I know a lot of people think 18's looks stupid on the car but I have seen them on a similar civic and I thought they looked good.

I was also looking at lowering the car so it does not look like its on stilts. I am not cheaping out and I have been looking at these coilovers: http://www.prostreetonline.com/pnsku/dsh98-luss2.asp

I was wondering if there is a height that I could lower the car so the wheels do not rub if that is possible. Or is there no way around rubbing and I would have to settle for 17's?

18x8" wheels with an unknown offset and backspacing? At stock height they might not rub. Lower it a little and there's about a 95% chance they will. Lower it a lot and there's a 100% chance they will.

Sorry, but you're not going to fit 18x8's on a lowered 6th gen without rubbing. 17x7's can fit with minimal rubbing with the proper tire size and offset, even on a civic tucking tire (I've proved this).

Hey I dont know if this is the "unknown" specs you were mentioning but the 17's are: 205/40/17

and 18's : 215/35/18

I've seen a 6th gen on 18" rims. Rubbed like hell too.

Don't go any bigger than 17". Personally you should go with 16" though.

Do 17's, not 18's...they will still look good once its lowered. And when u lower it u'll have to roll the fenders and prolly remove the inner fender lining thing (blanking on the name) but yea they wont look bad but ull still prolly have rubbing cause those rims are wide as a motha!

Nope, those are the tire sizes. The offset is the distance (in millimeters) from the back of the wheel hub to the center line of the wheel. If the hub is more towards the outside of the wheel than the center line, it's a positive offset; if the hub is more towards the inside of the wheel than the center line, it's a negative offset. The backspacing is the distance from the back of the wheel hub to the inside lip of the wheel. Backspacing usually won't play much of a part in Honda wheels, but if you get a crazy offset, you might have problems with backspacing.

You mean the inner fender liners?

And depending on offset and how low he is, he may or may not have to remove the liners and roll the fenders. I had to do both up front, but I was tucking tire on 7" wide wheels.

I am looking at adjustable coilovers, http://www.prostreetonline.com/pnsku/dsh98-kuss2.asp

I would lower it just enough so that it looks good, im not one of those types that want it slammed to the ground I just want it to "sit" good. I would be able to adjust it just right im assuming. Hopefully I can fiddle with it until I find a good ride height without rubbing.

Also, what is a good tire width for a civic, just so I can look around for those dimension and see if there is anything similar to the wheels I selected already

205 width is generally as wide as you want to go.
