2002 Civic Front Struts
Hi All,
Just got my timing and water pump done at the dealer for $600. I got all the other belts and coolant as well, not a bad price because all the local shops wanted $900-$1000. Anyway, they gave me a laundry list of things they wanted to do with the car. First off, the front struts. I have 131k on the car now and the struts do seem shot. I was thinking about getting the strut with the spring already installed so I can just swap them out. What do you experts think? I do not have the time or tools to just get new struts and put the old springs back on. Should I try and take it to a local shop and buy some tokio blues everyone is talking about and have them install? Thanks for your input. |
You can get the complete set-up with no problems.
You could also rent a spring compressor from a local auto parts place and use that to swap the springs over to your new struts. |
Thanks for the information. Does anyone have any suggestions on complete spring and strut set up for the front of the car, left and right sides? What brand name should I be looking for and price range?
I don't want something crap, I just did water pump and timing and expect to get 90k out of it. Need to change the tranny fluid too, any DIY information on that. It's a 5 speed and I'm sure it would like some fresh fluids to go along with the synthetic I just put in there. |
