2009 Civic EX Upgrade Wheels To 17 x 7.5 Inch???

Has anyone had success in upgrading a 2009 Civic wheels from the factory 16 x 6.5 to 17 x 7.5. (Success meaning no rubbing, etc. especially with other passengers in the car). I realize the tire size will have to change from the 205/55/R16 to something like 215/45/R17 but just a visual inspection of the car to me doesn't show where there's enough clearance to go with a 1" taller and 1" wider wheel/tire combination.

My son changed his factory 18 inch wheels on a Mazda 6 and the custom 18 inch wheels are an inch wider for which they always rub ... even with new smaller low profile tires, and new rear shocks. Mainly on the front now when turning and additional passengers in the car.

There's a better selection of wheels in the 17 inch size but this is my daughter's car who is a college student and always carrying stuff including friends, etc. and I thinking it's probably better to stay with a 16 inch wheel to eliminate future problems. A nice looking wheel is one thing but it being fully functional is another.

Any input will be appreciated.

Any Honda 5 lug OEM 17 inch wheel will be fine with no rubbing issues, I just installed a set of 2012 SI wheels & tires on my 2009 LX sedan with no problems.

Ok, thanks for the reply Peg Leg. I will have a look at the 17 inch OEM Honda 5 lug wheels.
