90 and 91 civic 2' drop

So this is my first time dealing with drop kits. I don't know much.
My buddy and I want a 2' drop < both are DX >. He want's a cheap drop. I on the other hand want a good drop that will still give me a decent ride. Soft springs FTW. I already understand what tophats do, and will likely use them on my drop. I guess what I'm trying to find out is suggested brands and a little more info on what to get. How do I tell which have a nice ride to those that are a lot harder?

The most commonly suggested combo for good performance and ride quality are Koni Yellows with Ground Control coilovers. This is what I would suggest for you. If you want springs instead, I really recommend the H&R Sport Springs, which I currently have... but they are not the softest ride... not too hard either... but they also handle pretty good. If you just want the softest ride possible i'd go with S-techs, though they won't handle as good as the H&R Sports. I would also look into Eibach springs... i'm not too familiar with them though.

For your friend, I would suggest the Tokico shock/spring combo... if they make them for EF hatch. Probably the cheapest option while still offering quality.
