Default '96 Civic Height, Wheels & Tires Question

I just bought a 'nice 96 Civic Coupe. I'm thinking about adding some aftermarket wheels & tires. I'm not going to lower the car. At stock height, can I run 18" rims with no rubbing issues or should I stick to 17's? Most of the 17" wheel & tire packages I've seen come with 205/40/17 tires and the 18" wheel & tire packages come with either 225/40/18 or 215/35/18. Also, because I'm not going to lower the car, which wheel & tire will show less gap between the tire and fender. Hope this makes sense and I'd appreciate the help. Anyone have any pics of a '96 Coupe with 17's or 18's that is stock height? Thanks in advance! Bill

you can run, 18's on a civic at stock height, and obviously they will show less fender gap. i think 18's might hinder performance a bit though only because they're so large. but if its just for show than they will be fine. with the 17s i had on mine at stock height, there was just way to much fender gap for it to look good so i lowered it a couple inches and haven't had to deal with rubbing or bottoming out. just some thigns to consider

Thanks for the help!
What size 18" tires would look and fit the best? (225/40/18 or 215/35/18)
Thanks again! Bill

The 40's would have a higher side wall(fill in gap more) but they are awfully wide. The 35's would show more gap but...unsure of the ride comfort.

I like my tires a little wider. Do you think 225/40/18 would rub anywhere at stock height?
Thanks so much for your help! Bill
