Default 97 hatchback lowering help

I would like to lower my hatch a little and found a guy on craigslist with lowering springs. Was wondering if just springs were a bad idea? I know I would have to get an alignment after but would I also need the camber kit? Im not sure what the springs are (1.5, 2 or 2.5 inches) and neither does the guy so I would like to know some overall measurements so I can go there with a tape measure and figure how far the springs will drop the car, and at the same time know if any additional parts (camber kit) will be required. It would be awesome if someone could say for example with random number - if the spring measures 20 inches its a 2 inch drop and no camber kit required, etc.. Sorry for being picky but I just want to know what Im getting into here

Any help?

why buy it if you have no idea what brand they are? for all you know they could be some brandless ebay ones.
