Ball Joint Trouble???

Hello there, another post about the damaged civic i bought, i have a dilemma, on a ball joint, can you remove the actual ball and threaded section from the joint alone, when the car crashed the ball part came out of the lower joint as shown below..

However the replacement hub i bought which had a ball joint fitted has been removed from the lower arm with a hammer and the threads are damaged on the threaded part, thus i need a new joint, however, can i fit just the ball part or do i need the ball and the cup part? and how do they fit these to the hub? special tool? would a local garage be able to do this for me?, another pic below of which part i mean, the nackered thread is illustrated also.. any ideas?

RE: Ball Joint Trouble???

you buy a new ball joint, they come assembled. they need to press the old one out (or use a socket around the same size and beat it out with a hammer) and then get the new one pressed in. a shop can do it for a few bucks or if your careful you can install it with a socket and hammer too, but i would just get it pressed in.

RE: Ball Joint Trouble???

I can't find the joint at any spares places? can anyone locate me one? that ship to the UK, is it the same as any other models? only honda will supply it pressed into the hub and its mega expensive, looks identical to all of those on other hondas, is it?
