Default which is a better choice.

Ok I have looked around a bit and have settled on a set of rims....they come in either 15x7 or 16x7 (also 17x7 but bent too many rims to do that again). now my car is a work in progress and I know it wont make a huge difference but which will be better as far as weight? the 15 is 9.5 pounds and the 16 is 13.5 pounds. On the 15 I would like to run a 205 50 15 or so or a 205 45 16 on the 16...which is going to be the better choice after tire weight is added? havent really looked into it much yet. Is is better to have a heavier tire and lighter rim or heavier rim and lighter tire? I imagine its a small difference but having the wieght farther from the center probably makes a difference.

it really doesn't matter as far as weight distribution when you're refering to a car such as a civic. if you're bracket racing and tuning everything you possibly can, then maybe. but rim weight is a little more of a factor considering majority is located on the lip on larger wheels. i suggest a 15or 16 (i run 195/55/R15's and are great). as far as tire weight, it depends also on brand and tire compound (aka summer tire? winter tire? seasonal?)

so conclusion, don't fret over it too much, you'll feel a bigger difference by eating a cheeseburger or using the bathroom.

lol right on...just doing things one by one...have some 16s on it now...just some riax black with polished lip. but since I am changing them i figured i might as well go all out so as i upgrade i dont have to go back and fix little crap here and there.

yeah, you won't have to fix anything if you go with a 15 or 16 with the correct tire sizes. just check www.tirerack.com if you're not 100% on the sizes. they have a calculator with each model and trim of car. as well as ratings for the tire you want.
