Brake help

Hi guys, i'm new to this forum and i mainly signed up to look for some help.
I have a 91 DX Hatch that i'm having brake problems with. Mainly that you have to press the pedal all the way down to the floor to get it to slow down. Now it does stop but very slowly. I have bled the brake lines and checked the vacuum hoses and everything but what else should i look for?
I want to drive my car but i'm afraid to cause it takes so long for it to stop.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

RE: Brake help

There are a number of things it could be. First make sure you've got enough brake fluid. It could be a malfunctioning brake booster or a piston could be stuck. It could also be that your pads are worn waaaaaaay down, or you somehow got grease on your pads.

Yes there is plenty of fluid in the reservoir, plenty of pad left which shouldn't affect the pedal feel much cause at some point it should still make some kind of contact.

Yeah, but really badly worn pads won't have the kind of grip that newer pads will and will cause you to have to work harder to stop.

swap out the pads. Its cheap. Do it yourself. Then see if the problem persists.

If you've bled the brake lines properly, it sounds like one of your pistons in the caliper could be seized or is not working at all.
Does the car pull to one side when you step on the brakes?
