Brake problem on a new 06 ex
Just bought a new 06 ex. I have noticed this problem twice so far.
When I make a turn on a bumpy road and push on brake, The pedal goes all the way down and I hear this metal on metal noise. Once I release the brake pedal and brake again, everything is back to normal.
Is this somrthing I need to worry about?

Make sure you post the findings...AFTER you get the car back from the dealer. I have one of these new civic's as well. I told myself years ago, that I would never buy a first year production car again......I have been hearing a lot of wild little complaints about the 06 civic. From suspention, brakes, and shifting problems. My car, when I roll in the morning, I back out of my driveway, shift to drive from reverse.........grind....sounds like an old 88 accord. 13000 miles.

Everyone says not to buy cars in the first year of production, i guess this is why. I would definatly take it to the dealer on any hint of a problem. You want to at least get every problem documented under warranty so if tere is a problem down the road you will not have a problem.

RE: Brake problem on a new 06 ex
Even after reading all the stories about problems with 1st year models, I wound up with my '06 LX anyhoo. I have had no issues up to now (4500mi+), but for one, a clicking sound in the steering when manuevering in parking lots. And I love the steering on this car, (have always loved the Honda feel, even before I owned them). I worry about it, but its not a grind, more like the rack just being noisy. Anybody else notice this? Have a co-worker with an SI i should ask this about (when I get the chance,we work different shifts).
There is some "play" in the tranny when setting into park, so I consistently set the hand brake so the car doesn't move (Chevy's I've owned did it too, but the movement seems to me more noticable). Driving the stick with my dear departed '91 Accord, it's an action I'm used to.
As an aside, I happen to like where the hand brake lever is set, right next to the shift, just seems logical to me, though some people who have reviewed thought it got in the way (tall people).
There is still no other car I would consider buying than the Civic. No regrets at all.

most cars do that if you turn the steering wheel as far as it goes. i dont know quite what causes it, but for drivers training way back i drove a taurus, focus, xB, and neon and they all did that when i was parking them.
