I'm just looking around to make the smartest decision I can before spending the money on new tires and wheels.

Here is a size I have in mind. My stock tire is on the left and what I want it on the right side:

My question is anyone have any experiences with these sizes? Anything good, bad or ugly about it?

First off what year is the civic?. The tire size would be good except the width would be better if it was a 205 not 225. You would have less rubbing issues if you went with a narrower tire. Other than that they should work great.

 

I would get a 205/45/R16 if this is going on a 6th generation civic. (I'm assuming considering you didn't give any information at all.)

A 16x7" wheel is fine with that offset/backspacing.

 

I have a 7th Gen and checking http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp it looks like going from a:

195/70R14 to a 205/45ZR16 will decrease the overall dia of the tire by 6.3%, that means when the speedometer says 60, im going 56.2 mph

A 215/50ZR16 will only be 1.3% smaller. Then Im only running 0.8 mph slower than what my speedometer reads.


My Civic is an '03. I just talked with a friend of mine and he almost said the same thing. I think I will drop down to no wider than a 215mm

well you seem to know everything, so what is your question again? Seems like you answered it yourself already....

 

I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I'm just saying that when you ask for help, have all the facts laid out for people to see. Don't make them go look for stuff for you since they're helping you in the first place.

 

Sorry everyone for not displaying everything as clearly as I possibly could. All I wanted to know was if those tires (Kumho 225/50r16) would fit onto those rims (16'x7' Mortegi Racing SX7 Black with chrome trim)?

Those rims suggest a 205mm width. Will a 225mm be too big?

I have actually decided on going with a 215mm.

Im just trying to learn anything I can about all this so Im more informed in the future.

 

Yes they will fit, but like previously said, 225 you will deal with rubbing. I suggest 205, but if you choose not to listen, dont.
