if you plan on doing it yourself take your time and use a second car to get around..label every bolt and take your time..dnt think your gonna get off of work and knock it out before the next work day.. be patient and again take your time.. you will save yourself so much money!(600$ bs) on something so simple

Indeed....If I were you I would do this on the weekend. You should alos do a dry run of what you have to do step by step by just taking off the wheel & seeing what bolts & components you need to move & unscrew to get the job done. Because almost 1/2 the time if you don't do a dry-run..you get stuck on a step that needs a certain tool that you don't have, then you have to put everything back together, jump in your car & get the tool, OR stop your progress & get the tool.

just to throw in my 2 cents, local dismantling shop here sell entire rank and pinion(not power) for 100$ includes inner/outer tie rods and my own mechanic wants 40$ to put in each side. i would reconsider the estimate you got...

Cool Doing this myself today

I'll be photo logging the process of DIY inner and outer tie-rods on my 97' Civic EX. I'll be sure to add the link here, I found a ton of info online, I'm not dropping the Steering Rack, but I have to replace the rods, and the dust boot, on both sides.

The diagrams here were extremely helpful!
