Default car wash?

Can anybody tell me if it is necessary to wash the bottom of my car to ged rid of all the rock salt that might eat up metal parts?
Mine is 2001 and I really want to learn how to keep this car as long as I can.

thanks!

Just a suggestion if you go through an automatic car wash where is sprays the under-side. If you have a cold air with out a bypass valve be sure and shut your car off cause it will suck it up. The force of the water and your intake sucking will work together and in she goes.

yeah, but unless the filter is totally submerged, it shouldnt suck enough water into it to cause any damage. ive done it a bunch of times, with no problems.

i wouldnt expect any problems if you have all of the plastic under the car like it should be and i still kinda doubt it even if all of the plastic is gone
