Default Coil-Over problem

Have a '97 Civic with a coil-over setup. Need to replace the rear KYB AGX adjustable shocks. I cannot get the coil-over setup off of the old shocks. I believe they should just slide off, but I have tried a puller with an air wrench, to no avail. Any idea on how to get these things removed so I can use them on the new shocks?

-Spin the adjustable perches as high as they go.

-Since the shock is already broken, with the shock assembly upside-down, get a hammer a punch (or screwdriver) and tap the perches in a star pattern.
Gradually use more strength until the sleeves come off.

Use this for reference:

When I changed the shocks with my ground controls, I wound the perch down so there was maybe half an inch between the spring perch thing on the shock and the spring perch on the coilover sleeve. Then, I took a hammer and put the claw end in the gap (with the handle of the hammer pointing towards the top of the shock) and used it to pry the shock and sleeve loose. It's actually really effective.

I put a three claw puller on it, put my airwrench on it and it didn't budge, at all!
