Coilover install Questions??

Just Bought some new coilovers for my 05 Si. I haven't ever done this before but have a basic idea of how to do it, and have a few questions.

1) How hard is it and how long does it take??
2) How hard is it to operate a coil compressor without killing yourself?
3) If i decided not to do it myself how much could it cost to get them installed at a shop?

Screw that, go to a local tool shop, get a set of spring compressors for about $20. It took me about 1 hour for the front and 45 minutes for the rear to replace the struts and put the springs on. The coilovers i had didnt need to be compressed at all since they were about a third the size of the stock ones. Put the spring compressor on spread as far as possible open then evenly torque down each side until you can loosen the top bolt on the strut. Remove the spring and carefully loosen the compressor bolts. once you get the strut out you will see it isnt very hard. $250 was what I was quoted in Houston as well for labor ($350 total, front only). Hell of a hourly rate. This was on a 99 4dr model, YMMV.

Well this is for all 4 and 2 new struts at the front. Also USD this would be around $200. I really dont have much idea on how to do things like this my self. Cars are kinda the new thing for me [&:].

If thats all 4 and you dont want to attempt it, then i guess 200 isnt bad.

I suggest that if you dont feel completely confident in doing it yourself, than go ahead and take it to the shop. Suspension is one of those things you want done absolutely perfect, and i wouldnt blame anyone for taking it to a shop to have it done

If you are replacing the whole strut (spring and shock) you won't even need a spring compressor, which makes teh job a whole lot easier.

Thanks for all the help im thinking about just letting a shop do it for me for $150 for all four.

Im kinda glad that i didnt have it done over the weekend like i was going to do, cuz i got rearended today and i think that the damage would of been a lot worse if it was sitting a couple inches lower. I think i might be able to buy a nice body kit just because the rear bumper needs to be replaced and a couple brackets.

$150 is a good price, i would jump on that, i not to sure but you might not have a big selection on kits for the 05, but its a good chance to do a body mod if you got hit.post some pics on the kits u thinking about going for
