coilovers vs shocks and struts

Just wandering which would be better for the money to a: a good set of coilovers or to b: get some lowering springs with new struts (or whaterver) i want it set up for good cornering and about 1 3/4 to 2in drop but dont think ill ever need the all the different settings that some coilovers come with sorry for such a noob question but what do you all think?

the best for your money? and you dont really need adjustablitly?

..go with springs and shocks, you can get a nice drop with amazing handling for about $200-500 for a real nice set

..with coils, your looking to spend 800+ for a good set, ride and handling, plus you still need to ge a camber kit

springs and shocks FTW!

"amazing" springs and shocks for $200? I don't think so.

Tokico Illuminas and H&R Sports or Races (depending on how much comfort you want and how much you want to lower)

RE: coilovers vs shocks and struts

I've had both Coilovers and springs. The previous owner of my car had coilovers on it and I really liked the "look" of the car, It was dropped to were the fenders were just above the tires. However the ride was less then enoyable, I felt every bump and dip in the road. Now I'm currently on a Eibach springs and tokico strut suspension and the ride of my car is a lot more enjoyable, however I lost the "look" of the car. My tire now sits around 1 1/4 inches from the fender give or take. It all depends on what you want for your car. By the way my suspension wasn't to expensive only running me a little over 400$ w/o installation. I suppose you can get some shorter springs, mine only have a 1.3 or 1.6 drop I forgot :(

On a side note could anyone please elaborate on the cheap 45-60$ coilovers versus the 600+ name brand coilover. I'd really like to go back to coilovers but I'm unsure about the low cost ones off ebay. Has anyone had any experience with them good, bad, ride, wear, etc.. (Sorry for the thread jack)

Example ~
Low cost ebayed coilovers
TEIN Setup
