Cut bump stop
Alright according to the sheet that came with the GC's I cut the bump stops, I knew that already, but I can't really cut them in half like the sheet says. The rear KYB's came with bump stops, but they are in 3 sections. Should I just reuse bump stops (assuming there are some on the shocks right now) and them? Also, the 1.5" I keep is off the dust cover that the shocks came with, correct? The front didn't come with any covers. I had this on my project thread but I doubt many people saw it. Thanks.

Cut right below the top section on the bump stop; it's what I did anyway. If you want to keep your dust shields (you really don't need them), use the ones that came with the new struts; just check to make sure they'll fit inside the GC springs.

just make sure they're not too long, they'll rub against the shock body, causing a squeak to occur over every bump.
Or you can use these like I did http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s...108&perfCode=P |
So Reaper, you cut the bottom 2 bumps off? And fronts have oem bumpstops?
|
Yup, cut the bottom two bumps off. My AGX's didn't come with new bump stops or dust covers so I just used the factory parts. I believe the OEM and KYB ones are pretty much the same anyway. Besides, do you really plan on bottoming out your suspension? :D
|
The KYB ones are actually a ribbed plastic design that compress with the shock. Pretty neat

You don't really need it. I don't have it on my Koni/GC's. Been that way for about 2 years with no issues.

I'm opting not to use the dust covers, going to cut the bump stops tomorrow I think.
Jeez I butchered the title of this thread, was supposed to be cut bump stop/dust cover. Fail. I usually reread all my posts for errors, but I guess I missed the one thing you can't edit ha. |
just an fyi - you can change it, you click "edit" and then click "advanced edit"

Never knew that, sweet sh!t!
