D*mn E-brake!!!
 

I bought my new (well, '96, but new to me) hatch yesterday and had the first thing break on me today. My right side e-brake cable got stuck in the locked position and I had to drive it about 3/4 of a mile to the auto shop with my right rear tire locked up! [:@] I got it there, and long story short, the guy had to clip the cable for the right side cuz the brake wouldn't release. Any idea why it would have locked up like this......and insight on how to install a new cable?

could of been dirt or corrosion on the wire, or way to many e-brakes while going down the road

One prior older male owner, 63k miles...The guy who clipped it suspected corrosion on the wire itself. But he didn't say how it could have gotten corroded....since my other '96 w/135k miles has never done that with me.

$hit happens, thats an easy fix Id bet, i mean all in all, its just a cable right?

Yeah, he quoted me a hundred dollars for the cable! :eek: Guess I'll have to scrounge eBay or elsewhere.
