Dropping a car. Stock shocks and lowering springs.
So I finally got new wheels and rims ( 15" Si's).The overall tire diameter is exactly the same so I'm not worrying about speed difference or rubbing on the wheel well. Now and then someone will tell me to get it lowered b/c it will look better. Are stock struts/shocks and lowering springs a bad combination ( i.e. dangerous ?)
Honestly I like it not lowered but some lowering springs wouldn't break my bank and it would give me something to do.:) |

ya im in the same boat...I would like to get some lowering springs for my 92 civic but dont want it slammed, would still like to be able to get chains on in the winter, so lower but not real low. Dont know what springs to get tho......

tein S tech give the car a nice nearly 2 inch drop. makes a hughe diffrence in handleling, looks great and still high enough to get in tho ****ed up driveways.
i have stck struts with my lowering springs..not appearing to have any problems, but i also got the new stock struts installed with the lowering spring. |
RE: Dropping a car. Stock shocks and lowering springs.
Trust me, you might like it not lowered, but you'll like it lowered a lot more. Turns are a lot of fun when you can take them at double the posted advisory limit + 10mph (not that I condone that sort of driving).
Anyway, Tein's H- and S-Tech springs are designed to be used with stock shocks. However, it will wear them faster and they'll eventually blow, so I'd recommend just replacing the shocks with some nice Tokico's or KYB's. After all, what's the point of ripping apart the suspension twice? |
RE: Dropping a car. Stock shocks and lowering springs.
ya WELL as long as the springs arent so low some stock struts might be fine BUT remember... depending on how many miles are on your current stock struts..... if your swaping the springs id say you might as well replace them for all the work and alignment needed afterwards... that way you dont have to go thru all that trouble again to replace them IF they go bad...

eibach streets will work wonders for minor drops without killing alignment.
