Fitting strut bar 96-00 hatch

Hi guys,

I have recently 'aquired' a front strut bar for my civic, however i am at a bit of a loss on how to fit it.

The civic i took it off had bolts coming up off the control arms (it was a 5th gen civic where as mine is 6th).

Do i need to take the control arms off the old one and fit them to mine (will they fit?) dont know if i can still get these as i fell out with the guy who was supposed to be sorting them over for me!

Can i just run some bolts up through the engine bay and use that to attach them? (is it worth even fitting it if im going to do this will the strut still have any effect?)

Any info would be a great help!

Aquired?...

Anyway, are you sure you're not talking about an anti-sway bar? A strut bar goes in the engine bay in between the strut towers. A picture might help.

upon closer inspection it seems that yes it might acturally be an anti-sway bar as it doesnt acturally connect onto the towers, just onto the raised bit of the engine bay around them

Whats that bar called that goes under the hood, and what does that improve? Your steering?

lol this is an awesome thread right here. The bar youre talking about that goes under the hood is a strut bar. It connects the two strut towers from the drivers side to the passengers side. It stiffens up the suspension a little bit but nothing to noticeable.
