How to lower a car
Hey guys. I want to know what the process is for lowering a car, and what parts need to be purchased. My civic is stock right now, and eventually i want it lowered like by 2 inches or so i guess. How much is too much to get lowered. I dont want to mess up the bumpers or anything or damage anything when hitting a bump, or hole.
Thanks.
Thanks.

daily driver, look for Tein S-Techs. They're made to use with the shock struts and give about a 1.7" - 1.8" drop, to install them all you need are some sockets, a set of spring compressors, some knowledge and maybe air tools for those tough seized bolts

if you lower your car, i would advise you to get aftermarket struts especially since you are wanting to go lower than 2". your oem struts will go out in no time. kyb makes reliable struts for the price. i know neuspeed, h & r and sprint makes springs which will lower your car 2". air tools would be the best bet if you live where it snows cause your bolts are going to be rusted.

+1 for the PB Blaster, i've heard that stuff is amazing but have yet to get my hands on some. Do you live a place with heavy winters? If so, the salt from the roads will probably have those bolts seized pretty bad and PB Blaster will be just about the only way of getting them out, if not you might have to just cut them and get some new ones

So the springs are what actually lowers the car's height as i see by looking around. is the front and rear usually lowered to the same height, or is there a slight height difference, alot of the springs i see have different front and rear heights. They all sold in the 4 set. What is the role of the shocks and struts exactly. Trying to get a better knowledge of how all these diffeent parts work together for suspension.
Thanks.
Thanks.

When riding over a bump, and the spring compresses, the shock's job is to help push the the spring back to it's normal position and hold it back into it's natural position. They also help ride comfort and hel keep the car stable
