Upgrading the brakes on an HX
I was just wondering what I could do to upgrade my brakes. They are completely stock disc fron drum rear. Are there any kits to make it all disc or what have other people done to get better stopping power.

you can get the rear brakes off of an SI or off of a Integera i just did it to my car and am in the process of writing up a diy on it if your looking to buy it search for rear disc conversion

Great. I will wait for DIY instructions to see if it is something that I want to tackle. I love this forum for all the information you can get.

Here is an interesting article about upgrading brake performance. Enjoy - http://www.automedia.com/Upgrading_F...cr20050101ub/1

well it might be a little while till i get it done but all that you need is the SI trailing arms with the rotors and calipers and pads included then you'll need a 40/40 proportioning valve and 2 new brake lines in the rear around 16" each that need to be flexible and 2 8" lines in the front also flexible to adapt to the 40/40 valve and some brake fluid

You dont NEED the the 40/40 valve for the disc conversion. Granted it is designed for it. Another brake upgrade option is to get high quality front pads, slotted/ drilled rotors and good rear shoes. I just ordered new performance pads and rotors for my HX. Stainless steel brake lines and dot 4 or 5 brake fluid helps alot to.

SS lines increase pedal feel and brake responce. I have not done it yet but I may in the future. And I have on other cars, my 87 Supra turbo. But no it is not needed. The good pads and slotted/drilled rotors will easily lock up the brakes on a Hx. Plenty of brakes for a Hx. Iam upgrading my brakes for a B18b swap.
