my tein expereince...

i got my tein s.tech springs last night.... headed off to work with them in my 00 ex. got out of work early, around 10. started to tear apart my car, zipping off nuts and bolts with a 3/8 impact. get to the left rear strut, and the nut holding the strut wont come off, i look down at it, and somehow it is cross threaded. i tried heating it up, penetrating oil, and then i held the shiney part of the strut with vice grips, that didnt work. i hit it with a torch and melted the nut off the top. had to chase the threads, went to cut the bumpstop and noticed that i ruined it, with the vice grips i made a nice ring around the whole shaft. i put it all together... went on to do the front struts, and for some reason thought i had to take the wishbone part off and broke that bolt head off. i had to drill it, easy out didnt work and ended up melting out the bolt with a torch, chased the threads and 5 hours later i was ready to do the alighnment. good news, the front camber was in spec by .1 degrees. the rear camber was about 2.0 degrees negative. and the toe of course was off. i got the rear camber set, and the toe. finally, about 6 hours later, she was done. i dont know if ill ever lower a car again.

the rear camber was bad enough that you could see it... the front you couldnt and was about 1.0 degrees negative if i remember. i dont remember the number for the rear, but two washers for each bolt made it look about right. i have now driven over 300 miles and the tires havent worn irregular... so its about time for the summer shoes.

That's the problem with having a torch handy... it's too easy to resort to it when things get tough.
