need help!! dont know if i should buy this tire size

Default need help!! dont know if i should buy this tire size

hey whats going on guys havent posted in a while... ok so i need knew tires really soon. my current size is 205 40 17 what i want to know is if i should go 205 45 17????????????... im currently sitting on s-techs. im looking for a more confortable ride. im not into racing anymore and just looking for a more quiet confortable ride. i know thats hard with s-techs and rims but it is what it is.. also if there is anyone out there that has s techs and has 205 45 17 that has any rubbing problems???

I surmise, from your other thread, that this is a bit late. For a more comfortable ride, I'd downsize to 15" rims and run 205/50R15s, or some other size with a 23.5" overall diameter. 16" rims, with 205/45R16s, may even be comfortable enough for you.

assuming you already haven't purchased the 205/45's, don't. I can almost guarantee you they'll rub with that tire size. 205/40 is the correct size for 5th/6th gens with 17's. If you want comfort, 16's with 205/45's or 15's with 205/50's will give you some ride quality back.

Also, for the rubbing, do you happen to know what offset your wheels are? If they're high enough, you might be able to get away with the higher profile tires, but chances are the fronts will rub the inside of your wheel well.
