Default New rims...need speedometer adjustment?

I bought some 17in rims for my civic to replace stock 15's. I've heard that my speedometer may read mph wrong. Is this true? If it is, how bad could it be and how could I adjust it?

A change in rim diameter doesn't throw your speedo/odo reading off. A change in tire diameter does though.

Make sure your tires are the correct diameter for your car. What year Civic and what was the stock tire size?

it won't throw your speedo off much. probably less than 5mph. IMO not worth re aligning the speedo. use this tire size calculator to see whats the MPH difference and keep that in consideration when you are driving http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

'00 Civic stock tires are about 23.5" in diameter. 205/40-17s (about 23.5" diameter) will fit a moderately dropped '00 Civic with rims of the proper width and offset.

another honda to look out for around town is a 92-95 white civic CX hatchback with a black or CF hood and tailgate. The guy works at Honda and he has a turbo LS swap, and he's building another LS in his house. That guy's Civic is clean as hell.

are you selling the 15's? i'm totally interested.
