New wheels size question

Im about to order some Drag DR16s this next week. My car had 17s on it when I bought it last week and they are rubbing on about every turn. So im stuck between getting 15s or 16s. I would like 16s but didnt know what the difference would be with tires between the 16s and 17s? I want to make sure im not going to have any rub. Should I get 15s or 16s? Its for a 2000 Black Hatch.

OK. Got some 16s. Car had 17s that rubbed when I got it. Think I should go with 205/40 or 205/45 with the 16s? Cars lowered on H&R springs.

205/40

205/45 is gonna rub probably

205/40 if you are running 16s. If the offset is good you should not have to worry with a 205/35 but you woudl have to worry less with 205/40s. It gives you you a bit more room and not that great a reduction in ride quality. The difference is only 6mm but that could be a difference. more importantly, HOW much of a drop do you have and what is the offset on the rims you are running?

The wheels are +40 I think. Rota Circuit 8s. Guess Ill go with 205/40 or 195/40 just to be safe. Ive never had 16s so I dont know what to run. 195 or 205?

on a hatch get 205/40 r16

the coupes use a slightly bigger wheel so they run 205/45 r 16

I was wondering if coupes have bigger wheel wells or what. My friends 2000 Si has 16s with 205/45/16 and doesnt rub. But we have the same drop, same rim offset, and they rubbed on my hatch. Weird. Tried them out yesterday.

96-00 Civics (besides the hatches) use bigger tires than 92-95 Civics.

Ya coupes and sedans have a slightly bigger wheel and wheel base. It is very small only about a 5mm difference.

coupes and sedans run either a 185/65 r14 or 195/55 r15 depending on factory rim rize.

and the hatches run either a 175/70 r13 or 185/60 r14 depending on rim size.

so for coupes and sedans the recommended tire size on 16s is 205/45 r16, while the hatches is 205/40 r16.
