I'm not comparing tires of different sidewall trims and i'm neglecting speed rating, something the op doesn't need to concern himself of. I don't think anyone needs to concern themself with speed ratings if you're driving in a civic, it's just pathetic. You're not going to find a difference in stock sized tire replacements in terms of performance, at least not by much.

Don't think of the speed rating as just a guarantee of safety at the max speed of the rating. Think of it as an indication of sidewall stiffness, which translates into steering response and the ability to keep the maximum amount of rubber (contact patch) on the road and not rolled up during high g-forces generated by cornering. But yes, there is huge difference in a non-rated tire vs a V or Z-rated tire as far as steering response goes, even if you neglect aspect ratio differences and compare same-ratio tires. The usual tradeoff is that most high-speed rated tires won't last as long as low or unrated tires, but that's a tradeoff I'd make any day.

I'm not arguing with you, and I already know all of this. I'm trying to tell you, it doesn't make a difference in the OP's case. If you're trying to convince him to get a 16 inch wheel and high performance tire combo like you did, then be my guest, I'm just trying to show him an option.

I appreciate the info you bring to the table conceptualpolymer but id rather steer clear of aftermarket rims. From the sound of things the 15s arent going to adversely effect my driving experience... and as long as I dont have to craft tires from rubber bands and superglue during the lifetime of my civic I think I will be fine

Okay, I just wanted to make sure you know about the "trend" the tire manufacturers are implementing. Even Hyundai and Kia are equipping many of their less expensive cars with 16-inch wheels.

Does anyone know where to find the stock wheel weights?
