rear brake drums DIY?

Hello everyone, my sister brought her car to the dealership the other day and she was told that the brake pads and something else have to be replaced. They didn't give her a report or anything, but they told her that something have to be replaced soon. I'm not that familiar with Civic's brake drums at all, so, what is it that I'm probably looking to do? The car has ~ 60k miles and I believe none of the rotors have been replaced before... Also, I've been looking for a DIY write up since last night but couldn't find one, can anyone link me a rear brakes DIY fora 2003 Honda Civic LX?

thanks a lot,
Joven

Also, what do the dealer mean when tey say this;

approx. brakes remaining: front 1.6 mm rear 3.4 mm

Are they talking about brake pads or discs???

get a haynes manual or any other brand booklet, it will save you a lot of headaches.

the measurements should be the pads

I don't normally work on this car, in fact this is the first time I'm getting my hands on a civic since it was bought in 2003.

So, can anyone link any writeup at all about rear brakes?

Get the manual, it'll show you everything you need. $25 at a bookstore or PepBoys.
