Rear Drum/Disc Conversion
 

This is my question...

I have a 99 EX 4DR. It comes with stock drums in the rear and discs in the front, I want to know if it is possible for me to hijack the entire rear brake assembly from an Si of the same era.

I want rear discs, but the conversion kits are upwards of $1500.00, I can get all the parts off of a friends wrecked Si for $150.00.

Is this conversion possible?
Is it more work than its worth?
Has anyone done it successfully?

What am I going to need from the Si if it is possible?

well worth the effort. not only will your brake life increase but stopping power increases. you can use the del sol si, 99-2000 civic si, and the 90-2000 integra rear discs. all you need is the rear trailing arms with all parts intact, the ebrake cables, and the porportioning valve(stamped 4040) the swap itself is straight foward. expect to spend upwards of 4 hours swapping parts over.

if your buddy is parting out his SI, grab the front brakes too. just get the whole steering knuckle that the brakes are mounted to. it swaps in really easily, and adds about an inch to the front discs.

Thanks very much for the help, as for the front I will look at it, but thats the reason its being parted... head on collision, Is there a bigger master cylinder for the Si? if so , shouldn't I grab that too?

Now I'm curious... are you saying that the lower control arms from an integra from as far back as 1990 will fit on my car? or just the discs?

i know the 94+ ones will, but im not personally sure about 90-93. but yeah, get the master cylinder if you can. and the proportioning valve too. its a little valve on the firewall with a bunch of brake lines going in and out of it.

weve installed 92 gsr trailing arms on a 94 civic si which will also accept the 94+ arms. as far a m/c upgrades, you can go with the integra 1" master but you also have to change out to the teg booster.

right, my bad, i should have mentioned the booster. i got the 15/16ths MC from a JDM Teg. and it made a wolrd of difference in the braking feel, so a 1" should be awesome.
