rear toe wont go out any further
 

I recently replaced a bunch of suspension stuff in the rear of my 98 civic, so I was doing a string alignment, but the problem I run into is that one side rear has 4mm toe in, but the compensator bolt cant move out any further.

The other side has 0 toe-in, so together they equal 4mm toe-in which is the the max total within specs.

Since this is messed up but technically within specs, do you think it will cause uneven tire wear?

Has anyone else run into this problem and come up with a solution besides an expensive adjustable toe kit? Thanks.

Is a string alignment really accurate? Perhaps take it on an alignment machine and see if it gets the same measurements

I think if it is accurate then the tire wear would be abnormal for the 4mm toe-in side. I mean, it's within max total specs, but it seems a bit extreme for all of the toe-in to be on one side.

im just worried they will come tell me that they couldn't adjust the right rear because it is "perminantly out of alignment", and then charge me 80 dollars for the rest of the car which I dont even need.

Well, I guess you'll never really know unless you check it out. Get one of those "lifetime alignment" deals and it will pay off in the future instead of being a waste of $80.

Unless you have one of the expensive string alignment kits, it's very hard to go by it. How are you measuring your alignment by string?

If you're maxed out on your toe adjuster, either your string alignment method is faulty or you have some damaged suspension component. As mentioned, your best bet is to take your car in for an alignment on a machine, you'll get a better answer that way.
