Default Replacing rotors and pads myself. Just one question before

Good afternoon:

I want to become more involved with the maintenance of my car.
Currently I know that I need to replace my brake pads because they have just started to squeak. I am also going to replace, or get the rotors turned. This will depend on what condition the rotors are in. But I will not be able to know the condition until I am going to install the pads.

I want to order the pads online but it is very overwhelming at the selection. Are all the pads basically the same or are there big differences between them?
Also I have the same question with rotors. I have seen prices ranging for over 200 a rotor to 23 at autozone. Is there any rotors I should stay away from?

Sorry for the lengthy post. But I am sick and tired of auto shops over charging me when I clearly have the capacity and tools to perform this myself.

Thanks for any help.

BTW - Thanks for the help last time with the SRI. I installed my injen SRI and could not be more happy with the performance and sound!!

IMO only buy brake pads at either NAPA autoparts or dealership OEM pads...

Yeah, I would buy OEM Honda if you can afford it. Cheap rotors can warp very quickly, and pads are worth paying for quality. I've had good luck with Brembo blank rotors, and Hawk Pads, or OEM pads.

i'm using the $23 rotors from advance auto parts, made by Wearever. They work good. For pads i'm using Wagner Ceramic Pads from advance auto parts. They also work good.
