Default Ripped CV Boot

I just found out a few days ago that I got a ripped cv boot and I dont know how long its been going on. Someone told me that dirt/gravel can stick to the grease inside the booth and dry it up causing some stuff to break. I was wondering is this true and how much will it cost to replace.

I can happenif it gets really dry, but if the grease is still pretty slimy you should be okay, i would just rinse it with some gas or bbrake cleaner before changing the boot and grease. to change a boot ,grease and two bands is like $30

i allways suggest replaceing the whole shaft. its easyer and worth it in my book. the grease will be gone and replaced with dirt for however long you drive it. emagine what happens. and how much longer will the other boots last if one broke. might as well.

yeah, change it. i can do one in about 10-15 minutes. once you figure out how to take aprt the ball joints, ad break the hub nut loose, its easy.
