Default Spring installation cost

Hey guys
I'm planning to buy some tein s-techs for $140 off eBay pretty soon, but don't think I'll be up to installing them myself.
I called one auto place and they quoted me $300 bucks for the spring installation.
I know that's only one place, but theres no way in hell I can drop $300 bucks on it -_-

Have any of you had your springs professionally installed? If so, how much did it set you back?

did they ask you to bend over while they were giving you your quote?

rent some spring compressors for free from your nearest auto parts store and ask some friends to help you.

pretty soon, you'll have a full-blown case of DIY-itis.

A buddy of mine got quoted $220 for labor plus some bushings that they required. It's not too bad doing it yourself. The first time is the worst. After that, it's nice and easy.

Springs/Struts aren't really that hard. The only hard part is getting the springs off/on the strut. When I went to get quoted on labor for 4 struts, they said $200 at Sears.

I am glad I found this thread. I am a auto mechanic that is not currently working in a shop and want to lower my tegy but there is no way in hell I am going to get raped by shops with labor. But that is just me, I know they dont pay there tecs that good. lol. The link you have is just using the weight of the car as a spring compressor. When you take off the shock tower nut, that is what will release the spring tension. It should be pretty simular for a 96. But be carefull, you dont want that spring to come flying off in anyway, I would suggest having someone help you that has done it before if it is your first time.

5th and 6th gen civic's procedure for doing springs is the same. I don't like using the car's weight as a spring compressor, they're available for "rent" at many auto stores where you leave a $50 deposit and get it back when you drop the tool back off.
