steering noise

ok guys, i got a 92 civic hatch and when i go to turn it makes a rubbing noise allmost like the drive axle is hittin somethin. If i punch the clutch or take it out of gear on a turn it dosent make the noise. Anybody have any idea what it could be?
thanks
