Default Steering noises

I've noticed since I got my 2002 Civic LX yesterday that when I turn the steering wheel to the left it makes a bumping noise, just once, at a certain spot. It also squeaks a little bit when I turn, but that doesn't worry me as much as the bumping. I would just take it to have it looked at, but the shop owner I know and trust has sold the shop, and I'm looking for somewhere else to go. I only had one year of automechanics in high school, so I'm not much of a mechanic, but I know the basics I suppose. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you might have a CV joint issue.....how many miles?

58,000 miles. Is a CV joint an expensive fix?

A friend of mine says if the CV joint was no good, then it would make noise the entire time I turned the wheel. It just makes one bumping noise at a certain spot.

CV joints are pretty easy to check. Take off the front wheel and look at the boot on the axle, if the boot is broken then the CV joint is prolly no good as well. It will cost $70 + labor to change an axle.

I used to have an 04 Accord Coupe that did that. It would make a single clunk when I'd turn out of our driveway in the morning and that was it. Didn't do it anywhere else. I never took it in or figured out what it was. I just accepted her for who she was.
