Default Struts

So my cousin takes his 2001 civic LX to the honda dealer to get a "tune up" and on the invoice thing it says that his front struts are leaking along with a quote for like $500 to fix it. Im wondering if it is possible to fix the leak on the struts. Im pretty sure that the shock absorbers have to be changed but i just wanted to make sure. Maybe some of the experts can weigh in.

I'm sure the struts are not repairable.

Most struts are not rebuildable, usually the higher end aftermarket ones can be rebuilt. If he can remove them himself it would cost way less. He can even get some better aftermarket ones for less than 500.

Well he has the stock struts on his car and i highly doubt that he has the skills to install new struts in his car. I actually offered to install the struts for him. Do u know how much it would run to get some new struts that aren't high performance or anything. To install the struts, they are connected to the strut tower under the hood and to the steering knuckle by some bolts correct?

The stock struts cannot be repaired.

When you buy struts, does it come in sets of one or two?

I think they normally come in pairs, but I can be mistaken. I haven't purchased struts in about 2 years. Check on e-bay. They have decent prices all the time. Tokicos are a good upgrade to stock.
