Tokico Illuminas & Tein Springs
Hello Guys! I just bought the Tokico Illuminas & Tein Springs for my 92 civic. can you give me an estimate how much will it cost me to have this upgrade installed in my car. One repair shop is charging me $500.00 for the installation. is this amount fair enough or a rip off. I have no idea on how much it should cost.. Thanks!!!
i'd always say do it urself, not that difficult if u have the toolsand we can help u thru it. if u really want to take it to a shop tho, $500 seems a bit much. somewhere around $400 is prolly where it should be. call up some other shops and get some quotes.
Thanks a lot! if only I know how to do it, but.. eventhough.. i don't think i can do it myself. Anyways, now i know that $500 is a rip off, I will look for a different mechanic to install it .

you should be able to find someone who will do it in their garage for half that. and unlike a repair shop, they'll probably let you help

watch your street for a week and see who does what to their cars (if you're in a rich area, chances are no one does anything, and you'll have to go to a shop)
but a suburban/middle class neighborhood is bound to have 1 or 2 guys that have some basic car knowledge...
the more lower middle class will probably have 3-4
or go to shop, wait until after hours, and see if one of the guys will do it on the weekend on the side for like $300
chances are they will... because of that $500 they're only seeing like $250 maybe $300
I was watching Torque TV the other day on spike or whatever channel it comes on.
They through some APC springs and struts on a 94 civic they have been working on, looked like it took em 30 minutes per front/rear. The tools would be the only suckie expense, like a spring compressor and all that. It didn't look all that hard though, and the haynes manual gives you a decent overview with the torqueing specs.
I am going to have to do mine soon enough, I really hope I can do it myself somehow, I hate to pay :-(
