Torque settings?
 

I was just wondering if there was a specific torque the bolts on the strut towers should be at? I'm installing all 4 strut/bars this weekend and would like to do it right so I was just wondering if someone knew what they should all be torqued at.

Oh also, what about the header? Any specific torque it should be attached to the engine with?

Yeah it's all in the haynes manual... mine's in my car but I can get you the numbers later if someone doesn't beat me to it

YES YOU SHOULD! I hear Chilton's is better, but i haven't had any problems with my Haynes yet.. If you do a search on here i know i posted the numbers not too long ago. Some other guy was asking the same question, and there was a big discussion about the different generations and what not. Even if you dont want to buy a chilton's or whatever, just go there, find the numbers, and leave:D

Oh, also... The specs on botls required to do the short throw install would be great... incase I can't look it up.

hhmmm... i have no idea on that one. I won't be doing mine till next spring, so I have no experience.


side note, i went to my car on lunch and it seems i've left my Hayne's at home [:@]

OK! here it is:

front suspension
shock absorber to body mounting nuts: 36 ft-lbs

rear suspension
shock upper mounting nuts: 36 ft-lbs


exhaust manifold to cylinder head nuts: 23 ft-lbs

exhaust pipe to manifold nuts (d16y8): 40 ft-lbs


shifter bolts: not listed. Although in the directions for replacing the shifter it says at the end "tighten all fasteners to the torque values listed in this chapter's specifications." I don't see it there though.

You're the man! Well, sorta. I need the bolts for the lower sway bars too. But, I think I'm just going to take a drive over to closest town with an AAP (half hour from here) and pick up a manual tomorrow. I'm gonna look into a thinner head gasket too.:)
