I just put new tyres (215/40/R17) on and even though my car is not lowered my tyres seem to be hitting the fender when I hit bumps or turn sharply.

I think my suspension is too soft, so to firm up my ride a bit, on a budget, what can i do? thanks any help is much appreciated

I have the same problem with the rubbing as well when I turn hard only though. Except that my car is lowered with Eibach springs and Koni shocks. I think the problem is camber adjustment.

 

not to jack your post, my right wheel rub my wheel well at 75mph hitting a dip in the road to.

 

i just picked up a set of 225/45/17, for my 95 civic hope they wont rub!!...

get the camber corrected asap , this is really important if you are diong new tires. correcting your camber can cost less than good rubber, and it will more than double the life expectancy of your tires, if you dont correct your camber, the mileage rating/warranty is void. the tire salesman will not tell you this, but he will try and sell you the road hazard warranty knowing the warranty is void. if you still rub after you correct then your tire is probably a little to wide or tall. and if you rub at 75mph on a bump there are two things you can do,1. slow down[:@] or 2. go around and avoid it. from what ive seen, if youre gonna go bigger than 15s, its gonna hit a little. with 16s its not too bad, with 17s its a little worse, and with 18s, dont plan on doing a clean U-turn. even on a huge road. new springs could help it hitting over bumps, because aftermarket ones will be stiffer, but it will also lower it, so if it hits when youre turning, then you need to consider downsizing the wheels and tires. or driving knowing that you cant crank the wheel all the way to the sides.

 

you dont have to get a front wheel alighnment for new wheels. that wont change anything. but if you change the overall diameter of your tire, then your going to have problems, i think 205 40 17 is going to be closest to stock.
