Default what struts

ok so we are gonna do the suspension on my friends 96 lx and from reading around i guess the GR2 struts are just oem replacement, no added dampening? were wanting pretty much the cheapest strut that can take a slightly stiffer spring rate and a drop of <2" - 1.5". if anyone can recomend a spring that be nice too..... as much as i want him to do it for performance, im pretty sure he just wants the looks (judging by his 17" rims that have to weigh 80lbs each!)

Yes the GR2's are OEM replacement. Look into the AGX's. As far as springs go, a lot of people here recommend Tein S-techs. It'll be a 1.9" drop in the front and 1.7" in the back.

what about the springtechs? crap? i know their springs are

or the eibachs? havnt heard much about them.

if the gr2 struts wont pogo with springs we will probably go with those (trying to keep it cheap). i just know he is very anti pogo and the fact that they are stock specs worry me

it's not just the struts you have to worry about. it's also the spring manufacturer, and spring rates.

to truly avoid any pogoing, you're probably going to have to get some adjustable shocks that can change stiffness.

but then you'd have to pay more money.

how much is your friend lookin to spend?

illuminas and AGXs are adjustable and are just a little more expensive.

it sounds like you want illuminas to me. they're relatively cheap as far as adjustable shocks go and they are fantastic.

this looks very promising...

http://www.cardomain.com/item/TOKILK202?vq_id=none

but i cant find the spring rates or drop (other than 0.5 ~ 1.75 depending on app) anywhere, anyone know them?
