im asking cause the USED cheap rims i just got either dont have the right offset.... OR i need to run smaller size tires like many 195-200.... i believe 40 is the width and the 17 is the rims size i know that...
well i slaped on the rear and the tires will rub when i do some hard swearving... so EITHER i have to roll the fender lips OR buy smaller tires..... and cross my fingers that the fenders dont eat away at my sidewalls......
OR what i realy DONT wanna do is sell the rims and keep rocken steelies NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
the tires on these rims now are 205-40-17s and one is a 215-40-17 and i put it on the rear first and its practicaly already touching the fender lip just parked! no way did i test it out!!!!!!

ok man, thats the way mine are. i have a 40 profile with 17" rims. i cant even get one finger between my fender and tire. thats how low it is. i dont have any problems though unless i drive crazy. but for cruising its fine. i suggest rolling the fender. i want mine dont but dont know where to get it dont or how to do it.

Ugh get that one mismatched tire off of there, that's not good!
take the wheels off and measure:
the width of the wheel
the amount of backspacking (from the back of the hub mounting surface to the back edge of the rim

u should be fine with a 205 series tire and not have to roll ur fenders. i run a 205 tire and my tire tucks in the fender well prolly more than ur does when i race and i dont have rubbing problems. if for some reason u do rub with a 205, slap a 195 on there.

well heres the rear 205 tire VERY CLOSE and will rub......
i just dont know how to measure the offset..
and well if the 205s wont clear everything i might have to go with smaller tires to get that clearance or maybe a 35 width...
i realy dont want my speedo to be off to much if at all posible!!!!!!
i guess i need to try that tire calculator thing to see how much it would be off....

ok edit.....
trying to figure out tire calculator thing...
and well looks like compared to thier chart the 195-40-17 would give me more space.... BUT ive searched and my discount tire doesnt say they have any that size

the tire isn't the problem, the offset is the problem, just sell them to make money for your new rims.

ur aspect ratio is fine, dont change that. shorten the width to like a 195, it'll be a bit stretched and still might rub when turning realhard but prolly wont be as bad.
