wheel weight question....

Just ordered some '03 Civic Si wheels, putting them on an '02 Civic Sedan LX.....Guess from the Fed Ex weight total the wheels are roughly 20lbs apiece.....Wondering how this stacks up against the steelies that are now on the vehicle? The steelies are 14" and the Si wheels will be 15"....Anyone know the weight of the steelies and will the difference, noticably affect the gas mileage?
Thanks for your help............K

RE: wheel weight question....

the steelies are around like16lbs each i think. ya the si wheels will weight a lil more since their taller and wider, but that also means u can have a wider tire(which adds weight tho). gas mileage prolly wont be affected that much, but u will prolly notice acceleration will be a lil more sluggish.

better handling and more style drown out the weight factor

RE: wheel weight question....

Weigh them both to be sure. That 20lb/wheel also includes whatever packing material they're being shipped in. Also, a wider tire may not necessarily be heavier, depending on aspect ratio and construction materials. They may also require less weight to balance.

I would bet the installed weights will be pretty close...within 2-3lb for each assembly.
