tire pressure monitor (aftermarket)
for my 07ex i purchased a tire pressure monitoring system. it just didn't seem right that my spouse's 08cr-v had one built in and the civic should be lacking.
the system i bought is made by 'orange electronics' and is available from tire rack. it has been in about six months now and works flawlessly. recommended, if you feel the need for such a thing.

RE: tire pressure monitor (aftermarket)
shouldn't it be that starting from 06, all civics had TPMS?

as i said, mine is an '07 and it did not come with tpms from the factory. they started that in '08.

So, how easy was it to install? I have an 08 and want to get new wheels, and have been wondering how difficult it is to move the sensors to a new wheel. And will the wheels have to have a special slot for the sensors? how does it work?

Update....I've talked to some wheel people. And they pretty much said you can fit the TPMS sensors for the 08 civic in just about any wheel, unless maaaaybe if you went with 20 inch wheels. But they should basically fit in any aftermarket wheel.

what happens if i buy new rims for the winter and don't install the tpms in the new wheels? looking for some cheap 16" wheels for snow tires and keep my 17" for the summer.

You'll just be driving the the TPMS light on. It just thinks your tires are flat. There is no impact on your car, it's just the annoyance of having the light on. You can buy more honda TPMS sensors or aftermarket sensors that work for the honda system. But I would just not use any sensors for the winter. That is what I'm going to do. I'm goign to buy new wheels, and put the sensors in the new wheels, and then use my stock ones in the winter with the TPMS light on.
