Default Better shift help

I hate how long it takes me to engage different gears. I would love a nice, smooth quick engagement. My question is would getting just a nice short shifter help with most of the problem? Or to really be satisfied save up and get a nice clutch kit and/or flywheel? I think the transmission fluid in my 98 civic EX hasn't been changed ever. When it's cold (which is getting bad here) it's very finicky, and it always seems to have a little problem getting into reverse regardless climate. I have to really ram it in or else it grinds. So, does this sound like my clutch is starting to go. Or should new tranny fluid help that problem. I really want a nice clutch kit, but if I could get away with changing the fluid and getting a short shifter for the quicker response I would do that over the price for now. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

A short shifter would help with shorter thows making it quicker.

Also when it gets cold all tannys get like that, mine does it do. I switched my fluid to GM synchromesh and it helps out ALOTin the cold weather, and for the problem with getting into reverse..if it doesnt go, put your car in first and then shift to reverse or hold your clutch in for like 5 seconds, then shift into reverse. Alot of hondas do this.

Ya I have problems getting mine into reverse too. I usually just put it in first and let off the clutch just enough to roll alittle then stop and put it in reverse. Works everytime for me. And I really recommend getting a short shifter. I got mine a few weeks ago and I love it. The shifts are so short. I dont ever miss gears anymore. I love it.

Had the same problems. I swapped in a short shifter, B&M double bend to be specific. Also topped off the tranny fluid, and installed shifter stabilizer bushings. COMPLETELY different car now!

I put it in reverse, or as far as it'll go, and give it a little rev and it pops right in place.

I just ordered a short shifter and bushings today so hopefully I'll get the same results.

Would a short shifter really help the shifts in a Si ?

I personally think the shifter is kindda short stock, just wondering if it would be worth it.

if you think stock shifts are short (which they are compared to a dodge ram 2500 5 speed) You wouldnt imagine how different a SHort shifter does
